In response to the present refugee crisis, beloved author Khaled Hosseini wrote the brief, impactful, and beautifully illustrated book Sea Prayer, which is written as a letter from a father to his son on the eve of their voyage. The father thinks about their perilous sea voyage while he keeps an eye on his sleeping youngster. It also paints a vivid picture of their pre-war existence in Homs, Syria, and the rapid transition of that city from a peaceful residential area into a terrible battleground.
